Have you noticed how people are getting larger these days? It's true that there is an epidemic of obesity in America today. Much of the problem relates to our more sedentary lifestyles, and to our less-then-optimal eating habits. Our bodies are made for exercise - lots of it. Consider a family membership to the YMCA, but mainly just get moving! You don't have to run marathons; a good walking program will work wonders for your sense of well-being and your overall level of health. Walk at least three times per week. start slowly, and gradually increase the distance and the pace until you are walking fairly briskly for at least 30 minutes at a time. Don't add weights to wrists, as this places undue stress on joints. To lessen the impact of walking on your feet and knees, try pole-walking. This will increase your calorie consumption by at least 33%, plus give your upper body a workout in the process. when you discover how much better you feel, and how much less frequently you get sick, you'll have enough incentive to stick with the program! Check out "pole-walking" or "exerstriding" on the Internet.
